Should You Organize this Meeting?

Did you ever go to a never-ending meeting? You were not sure about its purpose. You did not know why you were there or even what the other people were doing there. It ended after exhausting you and your time, leaving only with the promise to continue the discussion later next week.

If you never had this experience… I envy you.

This article and its flowchart will allow you to avoid putting people through this dreary experience. You want to organize a meeting, but should you?

This flowchart is part of the Ultimate Meeting Prep Flowchart.

Do you know what outcome is needed from the meeting?

The first step is to consider the current situation and evaluate what is the desired outcome. Do you need a decision, input, a debate of ideas, an opportunity for team building?

You do not need to reach a decision at every meeting, not all meetings are organized for this purpose, but you must achieve the outcome you planned.

A recurring meeting outcome should already be planned, but sometimes as it cannot be reached, it will be necessary to either think of a more achievable outcome or simply cancel this occurrence.

Can you achieve this outcome yourself?
